What is Every Kid Counts?
The Every Kid Counts program is an award winning programthat allows children and youth with special needs to have an equal opportunity to participate in their local community recreation and leisure programs. The Every Kid Counts program provides a support worker to provide both hands on and programming support to the child/youth, family, and recreation staff to promote full participation in the provided recreation/leisure activity. Since its inception in 2001 the Every Kid Counts program has served hundreds of children and youth in our community. It has made it possible for children and youth with special needs to have the freedom of choice and the joy of inclusion in community based programs.This program is financially supported by the Lansdowne Childrens Centre Foundation.
Who is Eligible?
Children and Youth between the age of 6 and 18 who reside in Brant County and have a developmental delay and/or a physical disability.
What can I expect?
After the referral is received, you will be contacted by the EKC Program Supervisor. They can provide assistance in finding a community program to fit the needs and interests of your child/youth.. A skilled support worker will be matched with your child for the activity/program in which they register.The support worker will assist your child/youth to participate and will help facilitate inclusion in all aspects of the activity.
