What is Social Work?
Social Workers help individuals and families improve their well-being and develop their skills and abilities to use their resources to resolve problems. At Lansdowne Children's Centre, Social Workers provide support and assistance to children and youth and their families who may be experiencing a variety of challenges including coping strategies, loss/grief, relationships and communication.
Who is eligible for Social Work?
Lansdowne Children's Centre clients receiving other centre services are eligible to receive Social Work services. Referrals can be requested by the family or youth, or may be suggested by another Lansdowne service provider working with the child and their family.
What can I expect?
Once a referral to Social Work has been completed you will be contacted by a member of the Social Work team. Service needs are determined through goal based Care Plans and may include individual or family intervention and support.
Various groups and programs may be offered that provide educational and/or therapeutic opportunities. The Social Work team may assist families and youth with accessing other services and resources, advocacy and future planning.
