Autism Services at Lansdowne Children's Centre Fall 2023 Foundational Services Guide

What's coming up this Fall at Lansdowne Children's Centre in Brantford?

Circle Time Social for ages 2-4 years, with a Caregiver

Every Tuesday Starting September 12, from 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m.

Join us for songs, stories and play time. This will be many children's first experience with this type of activity and that's what we're here for! Practice in a safe and inclusive environment with other children and caregivers.


Drop in Social Group for ages 10-13 years

A fun, safe hangout for youth with a diagnosis of Autism. Once a month from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Caregivers do not need to stay but youth must be able to participate in a group with a ratio of 3 youth to 1 staff.


Drop in Teen Social Group for ages 14-17 years

Last Monday of the month from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Lansdowne. Laid back, safe hangout for teenagers with a diagnosis of Autism. Caregivers do not need to stay but teen must be able to participate in a group with a ratio of 3 teens to 1 staff.


Intro to Autism Virtual Workshop

September 13th 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Have your questions answered by Autism Therapists. Learn more about Autism, including strategies for managing behviour, and teaching skills.


Toileting Strategies Workshop - In person, with your child

October 5 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Children will play with Therapists while parents learn about toilet training strategies and tips tried and tested by Autism Therapists. Parents will have a chance to try the suggested strategies with their child before leaving.


OAP Information Virtual Workshop

October 11, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Perfect for parents of children with a new ASD diagnosis or a refresher for Ontario Autism Program paperwork, applications, processes and other resources available to families.


Halls of Halloween, Trick or Treat Practice Event

October 25, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Bring your children to a safe and controlled environment at Lansdowne to participate and practice dressing up and trick or treating. Registration required. Limited capacity.


PRT Group- In person with your child

Starts Nov 2, 2023, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - Contact a Family Support Worker to register. Pivotal Response Treatment in a group format for 2-3 weeks followed by 1:1 sessions with therapists. Caregiver lead strategies to improve language and communication.


Intro to Behaviour Virtual Workshop

November 16th 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Have your questions answered by Behaviour Therapists. Learn more about Applied Behavior Analysis, ways it can be used and how it has changed over time.


Toileting Strategies Virtual Workshop

Nov 22 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Learn about toileting training strategies and tips tried and tested by Autism Therapists.


OAP Information Virtual Workshop

December 14, 2023

Perfect for parents of children with a new ASD diagnosis or a refresher for Ontario Autism Program paperwork, applications, processes and other resources available to families.


Holiday Craft Night 5-9 yr olds

December 7th 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Children will have a chance to make holiday crafts to take home and give as gifts to their caregivers. Caregivers do not need to stay.
