Brant County Health Unit and Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit are offering doses of the pediatric Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, for children 6 months to under 5 years of age.
According to the Brant County Health Unit website,
Currently, the Moderna (25 microgram dose) COVID-19 vaccine is the only authorized vaccine for children 6 months to under 5 years of age. The recommended interval between the first and second dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine is eight weeks. NACI recommends that children receive the Moderna (25 microgram dose) at least 14 days before or after another vaccine.
Health Canada authorized the use of this vaccine on July 14, 2022.
