The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) provides client care and treatment under the guidance of Speech-Language Pathologists. The incumbent is responsible for speech and language service delivery, targeting care plan goals established by the Speech Language Pathologist.
• Provides speech-language therapy in consultation withSpeech-Language Pathologist
• Provides consultation, training, and educational supports to clients, caregivers and other agencies
• Assumes a client caseload referred and guided by speech language pathology staff
• Maintains department’s materials
• Assists the Speech-Language Pathologist with documentation, preparation and monitoring
• Documents client progress towards achieving treatment goals
• Maintains knowledge of current practices and equipment
• Participates in parent programs
• Plans, creates and implements activities for language groups
• Assists in data collection
• Adheres to the policies and procedures
• Establishes good rapport with children, families, and involved professionals
• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
• Graduate Certificate Communicative Disorders Assistant or equivalency as per the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
• Eligible for membership in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada.
• Bachelors Degree in Social Services, Infant Child Development, Healthcare or a related field.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Previous work or volunteer experience with children with special needs
• Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
• Ability to work independently and within a transdisciplinary team.
• Utilize a family-centered approach in service delivery.
