While March is Social Work Month, the impact Registered Social Workers make can be felt throughout the year.
The Social Work Team at Lansdowne Children’s Centre are professionally trained to support families to cope with the impact of illness, disability and complex health needs. This may include adjusting to a diagnosis or navigating new life pathways. Social Workers guide individuals and families to make use of strategies to help cope with life’s many challenges, including managing stress, relationships, grief and loss, social-emotional issues; they also provide connection to local resources, to help families find their way.
In her address regarding the 2026 National Social Work Month, Ontario Association of Social Workers, CEO Ajiroghene Evi noted that this year’s campaign theme is Care. Insight. Together.
“This theme reflects the special blend of expertise and lived experience that social workers bring to their roles. At the heart of our work is a simple but powerful truth: people are not meant to navigate life’s challenges alone. When someone is facing grief, trauma, poor mental health, systemic barriers, or major life transitions, Social Workers are there to walk alongside them, helping them find a path forward as they make sense of things.”
Lansdowne would like to recognize our Social Work Team: Lorraine DeJong, Cathy Leeming and Veronica Yam for their dedication to supporting Lansdowne families throughout their child’s journey.
