    Brantford/Brant County - Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation - Six Nations of the Grand River RESPITE SERVICES All Services Index RESPITE SERVICES Alternate Care The Alternate Care Program (ACP) is a family-based model of respite. Care providers are screened and trained to provide relief either in their home, the family’s home or in the community. It is a safe and nurturing place for your child to spend time while providing a much needed break for the caregivers. The Alternate Care Program is licensed under the Ministry of Children Community and Social Services and administered by Lansdowne Children’s Centre.Your child will have an enjoyable time with another family while you are taking care of yourself. Eligibility Start Referral Children/youth birth to 18 years of age with a diagnosis of developmental delay. Goals, Skills and Keywords Expectations Initially the Alternate Care Supervisor will meet with you to obtain more information about your child’s individual needs and your respite requirements. Options for ACP providers will be discussed. Service initiation could begin sooner if you know of an individual or family that could provide support. Once you have been matched with an ACP Provider you will meet together with the ACP Supervisor. The specific days of respite are arranged between you and the ACP Provider. You Belong Here.     Lansdowne Lending Library and Resource Centre | | Lansdowne Children's Centre Resource Library Lansdowne Lending Library and Resource Centre The Lansdowne Resource Centre is a lending centre for families and children involved with Lansdowne Children’s Centre. Parents can borrow, at no cost: - Toys - therapeutic toys, games, puzzles - Equipment to help with home programs, school or day care - Resource information, a large selection of books, videos, reference files and pamphlets with a wide variety of topics from feeding and nutrition, to toilet training and behaviour strategies. The Resource Centre is located in the front entrance of Lansdowne Children’s Centre in Brantford, at 39 Mount Pleasant Street, and is open: Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 8:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm Who is eligible to use the Parent Resource Centre? Anyone using services offered through Lansdowne Children’s Centre is welcome and encouraged to use our Resource Centre. What can I expect? A borrower’s card is issued and enables you to sign out up to 4 items at a time. The usual length of time an item can be borrowed is 3 weeks. If you are not finished with the item you can call and sign it out again. Ask the receptionist for details. Is there a fee? No, all of our resource centre services are free. All you need to do is apply for a borrower’s card. How do I apply for a Borrower’s Card? Borrower Card applications are available at the Reception desk. Your card will be available the following week.     Brantford/Brant County - Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation - Six Nations of the Grand River RESPITE SERVICES All Services Index RESPITE SERVICES Special Services at Home Special Services at Home (SS@H) is a program designed to provide a variety of supports to those who are caring for a child with a developmental and/ or physical disability. SS@H can be used in a variety of ways to best meet the needs of each unique family. Support can be provided either in the home or in a variety of community settings The program is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Some of the ways SS@H can provide your child with support are: 1:1 Support Worker to support your child in working toward their own unique goals. 1:1 Support Worker to provide families with a short break from the demands of caring for their child. The purchase of a variety of other individualized supports and services for your child based on current Ministry guidelines. With careful thought and planning, your SS@H funds can be used to support a wide range of meaningful activities which will increase a child's experiences and opportunities to work on their individual goals.
