Tamie Aubin has been at Lansdowne Children’s Centre for over 15 years. She started her career with the child development centre in Brantford as a physiotherapist, and worked in a variety of roles before becoming the agency’s Director of Client Services.

Ahead of the Lansdowne Heroes Walk and Roll event on Oct. 4, Tamie shared some thoughts on both the importance of the work being done at Lansdowne, and the community’s support in making it possible:
As the Director of Client Services at Lansdowne Children’s Centre, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible impact our community can make when we come together – and Heroes Walk and Roll is one of the most powerful examples of that.
This event is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a celebration of the families we serve, the children who inspire us, and the shared commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive world. The funds raised help ease the financial burden for families caring for children with special needs – covering costs associated with attending therapy sessions, accessing essential equipment, and inclusive programs that allow kids to connect, play, and thrive.
I’ve attended Heroes Walk and Roll with my own family, including my grandchildren, and it’s always a heartwarming experience. Seeing families dressed as heroes, playing games, sharing stories, and simply enjoying time together – it’s a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s about connection, compassion, and community.
One of the most moving parts of the event is watching our Lansdowne Ambassadors – clients and their family members – share their journeys and participate in activities using equipment made possible by past fundraising efforts. Their stories are powerful, and their presence is a testament to the difference we can make when we support one another.
I’m proud to be part of this work, and proud to show my family the importance of what we do. The children and families we serve are the true heroes – and Heroes Walk and Roll is a chance to celebrate them, support them, and walk alongside them.
The support from client families and those within the community is essential to the life-changing work being done every day at Lansdowne. Since mid-summer, we’ve had a number of people working to raise funds, so that in turn, we can help the babies, toddlers, children and teens who come through our doors unlock a new skill, unlock a new smile.
However you can support us – with your time, your talents, your finances, your voice in helping us to spread the word, etc. – we are grateful!
