Ahead of the return to school, Family Engagement at Lansdowne Children’s Centre hosted a special school-ready experience, Bertie the Bus, coinciding with the Autism Services’ Entry to School graduation. There was no cost for families to attend this event; special thanks to Sharp Bus Lines Limited for donating the bus for the event.

Families could also pick up a school readiness kit from Family Engagement and Autism Services that included items like an All About Me outline for parents or caregivers to fill out for educators so they can quickly learn about a child’s preference, strengths, support needs, etc.; a First/Then board to help families communicate about tasks and schedules; and information about additional community-based resources.
Additional kits are still available at the Caregiver Corner at the Brantford Lansdowne site, and through Family Engagement.
