"Our hearts are full," incredible response to volunteering with Knights of Columbus

In less than 24 hours, Lansdowne Children’s Centre received more than four times the number of applications needed to fill volunteer roles for the Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast—and our hearts are full.

Once again, our community has shown just how deeply it cares for children, youth, and their families. The overwhelming response is a reminder of the kindness, enthusiasm, and generosity that surround Lansdowne every day.

An email was shared with Lansdowne subscribers calling for help to staff an upcoming third-party fundraising event. The March 1, Knights of Columbus all-you-can-eat breakfast fundraiser, in support of Lansdowne Children's Centre programs and services - needed volunteers to help bus tables, wash dishes and greet guests.

Within hours the available spots were filled, and an overflow of energetic supporters were thanked for interest and invited to come out to breakfast, as well as volunteer at future events.

In response to the incredible show of support and interest, Lansdowne Director of Development and Community Relations, Lynda Henriksen, shared,

"We are truly grateful for every person who stepped forward to help. Your passion fuels our mission, and we can’t wait for a fantastic event on Sunday, March 1. Our team is at work developing and expanding volunteer opportunities for 2026. With such remarkable interest, we’re excited to grow community involvement in our events, enhance family engagement, and strengthen support for the services and programs that help kids to thrive."
