Lansdowne Children’s Centre is excited to invite families to participate in the Scholastic Book Club—an engaging and accessible way to bring the joy of reading into your home while also supporting important programs and services for local infants, children and youth in our community.
Through Lansdowne’s Scholastic Book Club webpage and unique class code (RC736581), families can conveniently browse and purchase a wide selection of high-quality books online. From beloved picture books and early readers to chapter books and educational resources, there is something to spark every child’s interest and imagination.
Plus, during the school year (September to June) there is no charge for shipping when an order is shipped to Lansdowne Children's Centre Brantford site for pick up. During summer months (July and August) orders can be shipped to homes for a shipping fee of $10.00 for orders totaling $100 or less, or 10% of the pre-tax value for orders over $100.
Each order gives back 20% in Rewards to Lansdowne Children's Centre when using the unique classroom ID at checkout.
All Lansdowne and community families are welcome to participate, and every purchase made through the Centre’s classroom identification contributes back in rewards—helping to fund valuable resources that directly benefit the children and programs at Lansdowne.
The Scholastic Book Club has long been recognized for making reading accessible and exciting for children while supporting literacy development. By partnering with programs like Lansdowne, Scholastic helps connect families with carefully curated books that align with different ages, stages, and learning interests. This initiative not only builds home libraries but also strengthens the sense of community as families contribute to a shared cause.
Paper copies of seasonal Scholastic Book Club flyers are available at the reception desk at Lansdowne Brantford. Families may also inquire about getting a Lending Library card to access resources, including books, videos, toys and games.
The positive impact of reading with children
Reading together, especially in the early developmental years, offers lasting benefits for children. Research consistently shows that early exposure to books supports language development, expands vocabulary, and enhances listening and comprehension skills.
Beyond academic gains, reading with children fosters emotional connection, strengthens parent-child bonds, and nurtures a lifelong love of learning.
Shared reading moments also encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence—all essential building blocks for a child’s overall development.
At Lansdowne Children’s Centre, we understand that learning happens both within and beyond our programs, and empowering families to support early literacy at home is an important part of our mission. The Scholastic Book Club provides a simple yet meaningful way for families to engage in their child’s development while giving back to the Centre.
We encourage all Lansdowne families to explore the Book Club, use our dedicated link and class code, and discover the joy of reading together. Every book purchased helps grow young minds—and supports the programs that make a difference in our community every day.
