Children’s Treatment Centre Marks Milestone Celebration
Brantford, ON - Lansdowne Children’s Centre is planning a schedule of events and activities through 2024 to celebrate their golden jubilee, the 50th anniversary of the organization's official founding in the city of Brantford.
To mark the milestone, Lansdowne is working to reach out to organization alumni to participate in events and come forward with their Lansdowne stories. The children’s treatment centre is inviting past clients and their families, team members, and community partners, to visit their website and add their name and comments to a growing register.
Executive Director Rita-Marie Hadley is excited for the opportunity to connect the modern community with Lansdowne’s unique history, evolving from humble beginnings as a family support group in the 1950s, to incorporation and recognition as a Group K hospital in 1974 providing local diagnostic and treatment services.
“Lansdowne has been a fixture in our community for generations. This anniversary presents an opportunity to celebrate the impact made by so many great people, to reconnect with friends and families who have been a part of our history, and to share stories of progress and hope with new neighbours and next generations of families.”
Event dates will include:
Sunday June 2 - Join the Lansdowne Crusiers for the 40th annual Rotary Classic Run
Sunday June 9 - Join Lansdowne for a day at the ballpark with the Brantford Red Sox

Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation is also planning to host a reception celebrating the Centre's 50th anniversary.
Lansdowne Children's Centre has unveiled a 50th anniversary logo to commemorate the milestone achievement. The graphic uses a mix of Lansdowne's past brands, including a wheel representing the longstanding support and partnership of the Rotary Club of Brantford. Rotarians have been a large part of Lansdowne's history, as board presidents, volunteers and donors.
Lansdowne intends to share more of their history of contributions and achievements over the next few months, unveiling stories from the archives of Brant News and the Brantford Expositor. There is also archive video being remastered to a modern format so that it too can be shared and provide a glimpse into the past.
Community members and alumni can follow Lansdowne on social media at @LansdowneChildrens on Facebook and Instagram, and @LansdowneCTC on X (formerly Twitter) to stay apprised of upcoming events and anniversary celebrations.
Lansdowne has also opened an anniversary webpage, www.lansdownecentre.ca/50years where visitors can look through moments in Lansdowne history, share their personal Lansdowne story and/or anniversary well wishes, and participate in Lansdowne Alumni registration and activities.
